Prone Pilates Exercises for Posture: to counter habitual forward movement
As Pilates instructors, we often get asked how to improve posture.
Rather than thinking in terms of good or bad posture, try imagining how we hold ourselves as a complex relationship between what we habitually do during the day and what we can incorporate to counter those positions. The key is to add movement in different planes of space, keeping our musculature and tissues balanced, strengthened, and stretched from all directions. For many of us, it’s too big of an ask to not sit at a computer or to stop using our smartphones so much.
At Streamline Pilates, we have some ideas for you! Here is a video of Charlotte performing a series of extension exercises that are easy to integrate into your daily life and can help counteract so much of what brings our bodies forward and down. And here at the studio, we have many more ways to help you move in all directions!
